DÍA 17: O GROVE & EL BARCO

DÍA 16: CENA DE DESPEDIDA & FIESTA DE SAN JUAN

Mi día empezó a la 13h00 aunque me desperté a las 11h30 porque María se despertó a la 13h00.  Cuando María se despertó almorzamos, yo comí salmón, ensalada, y pimientos.  En el tiempo entre que María y yo nos despertamos, yo hablé con mis padres y después vi la televisión en español con Quique, el hermano de María.

My day started at 1:00pm even though I woke up at 11:30am because Maria did not wake up until 1:00pm. When Maria got up we had lunch, I ate salmon, a salad and peppers.  While Maria and I got ready I spoke to my parents and watched TV with Maria’s brother Quique.

Después del almuerzo, nos relajamos hasta a las 16h00 cuando María, Quique, el tío de María, y yo fuimos a comprar cosas para mi familia y para Quique. Él necesitaba zapatos.  Fuimos a tres tiendas y ahora tengo regalos para mi familia.  Para mi padre tengo un polo que parce similar a la camiseta del equipo nacional de España que se llama La Roja. Para mi abuelo, una gorra de equipo nacional de España.  Para mi madre, tengo dos tazas de café y para mi hermano una camiseta del Celta Vigo.

After lunch, we relaxed until 4:00pm when Maria, Quique, Maria’s uncle and I went shopping for things that Quique and I needed.  He needed shoes.  We went to three stores and now I have presents for my family.  For my dad I got him a polo for Spain national soccer team known as La Roja. For my granddad, I got a soccer cap for Spain’s national teams.  For my mom, I got some coffee mugs and for my brother I got a t-shirt for the Celta Vigo soccer team.

Después, fuimos a un restaurant para beber refrescos. Yo bebí un Nestea y ver el partido de España.  España ganó contra Australia 3-0. Luego, en casa, me duché y me puse mi ropa para ir a la cena de despedida.  En la cena había croquetas, gambas, almejas, churrasco, merluza, ensaladas, helado, y bombones de chocolate.

Afterwards, we went to a restaurant for a drink. I had a Nestea and watched the Spain play in the World Cup. Spain won against Australia 3-0.  Then we went home, showered, and got dressed up for our farewell dinner. At the restaurant they served, croquettes, shrimp, clams, ribs, fish, salad, ice cream, and chocolate bonbons.

Después a la medianoche nos fuimos a celebrar la fiesta de San Juan.  Había una hoguera muy grande. También había música y nosotros nos pusimos a bailar.  Fue muy divertido y gracioso. 

Around midnight we went to celebrate the festival of San Juan. There was a big bonfire.  Also there was music and many of us dance.  It was a lot of fun and funny.  

Maestra McNeilly-Anta y Señor Gómez también bailaron con nosotros. Pero Maestra dijo que Ben K y yo fuimos los mejores bailadores.

Maestra McNeilly-Anta and Senor Gomez also danced with us.  Maestra said Ben K and I were the best dancers.

DÍA 12: SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA (2˚ Parte)

Hoy, me desperté a las ocho menos cuarto en la habitación en el camino de Santiago. Estaba muy cansado después de haber caminado tanto ayer. Sam, Chris, G, Pablo, David, y yo teníamos sueño.  Nos vestimos y entonces caminamos a desayunar en el restaurante donde cenamos anoche. Comí pan tostado con mantequilla, jugo de naranja, y mucho agua. Estaba esperando que no tuviéramos que caminar mucho más.

Today I woke up at 7:45am in the hostel that we were lodged in on our Way to Saint James.  I was very tired because we walked a lot yesterday. Sam, Chris, G, Pablo, David, and I were sleepy.  We got dressed and went to breakfast at the restaurant where we had dinner last night.  I ate toast with butter, OJ and a lot of water. I was hoping that we didn’t have to walk too much more.

Después de desayunar, un grupo de chicas españolas prepararon bocadillos para todo el grupo mientras que los Americanos metimos todas las mochilas, sacos de dormir, y todo lo demás en el autobús.  

After breakfast, a group of Spanish girls prepared the sandwiches for everyone in the group while the Americans loaded up the bus with backpacks, sleeping bags, and everything else.  When our group got on the bus for Santiago I asked Maestra if we would have time to sleep on the bus and she said yes.  

 Cuando el grupo salió en autobús a la ciudad de Santiago le pregunte a Maestra, si tendríamos tiempo para dormir en el autobús y ella dijo que si. Cuando llegamos en Santiago de Compostela tuvimos que movernos rápidamente porque habíamos salido tarde del albergue porque había llegado tarde el panadero.  Por eso al salir del autobús los profesores decían "caminen mas rápido... más rápido!" Afortunadamente, llegamos a tiempo. Al llegar a la Catedral de Santiago de Compostela nos encontramos a Emma.  Finalmente, Emma vino con nosotros después de su operación de apéndice. Todos estábamos felices de verla y por eso le dimos muchos abrazos al verla. También, Ryan y Miguel reunieron con nosotros.

When we arrived in Santiago de Compostela we had to move quickly because we were behind schedule thanks to the bread baker who arrived late at our hostel.  As a result, when we arrived the teachers quickly ushered us to hurry it up.  We made it.  When we arrived at the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela we meet up with Emma. Finally, Emma was able to rejoin the group after having her appendix removed.  We were all happy to see her so we gave her lots of hugs. Ryan and Miguel also rejoined the group.

El tour de la catedral fue muy bueno e interesante. Nosotros subimos a las cubiertas de la catedral y caminamos por todas las cubiertas.  Había unas vistas muy bonitas de la ciudad y de las torres de la catedral. 

The tour of the cathedral was very good and interesting. We climbed up to the rooftop, which actually looks like elongated stairs. We enjoyed a walking tour with gorgeous skyline views of the city and the cathedral towers. 

Dentro de la catedral vimos el botafumeiro y el cripta de Santiago de Compostela. Santiago es el único apóstol que sabemos donde esta enterado por eso por miles de años tanta gente ha hecho el peregrinaje a la catedral de Santiago de Compostela.

Inside the church we caught the tail end of the mass, saw the huge incense burner made out of silver, and visited the crypt of St. James. The apostle St James is also buried in the cathedral He is the only apostle whose resting place is known and verified as a result people have come on pilgrimage to the cathedral for thousands of years.

En el autobús al instituto, todos nos quedamos dormidos. Cuando llegue a casa con Pablo yo estaba tan cansado que me dormí inmediatamente! Me levanté de cuando oí voces. Miguel y Chris habían venido a la casa. Luego nos divertimos jugando videojuegos. Hicimos un torneo de FIFA, un partido de fútbol en XBOX 360.

On the bus ride back to school, we all feel asleep.  When I arrived home with Pablo, I was so tired that I feel asleep immediately.  I woke up when I heard voices.  Miguel and Chris had come over.  So we all jung out playing videogames.  We played a FIFA soccer tournament on XBOX 360.
